The OHPR Capitol Day on March 4th, 2025, was a great success! Our members had the opportunity to visit with several legislators, engaging in important conversations about upcoming bills and advocating for the rights and well-being of Oklahoma’s families. It was a powerful day of connection and advocacy, and we are grateful to all who participated. As we continue our efforts to protect parental rights and make a meaningful impact, we ask for your support. Please consider making a donation to help us keep moving forward in our mission. Thank you for your continued commitment to our work!

Action Alert for The Week of 3/10/25!
Bayer AG, the parent company of Monsanto, is funding state-level lobbying efforts to shield itself from legal challenges related to Roundup, its glyphosate-based herbicide. In Missouri, where Bayer faces thousands of lawsuits, the company is backing legislation that would make federal EPA labels sufficient under state law, potentially blocking further claims. Critics argue this move undermines public health protections and preempts the MAHA movement, which seeks stricter chemical regulations.
Now, Bayer is attempting the same strategy in Oklahoma with SB 1078. This bill recently passed the Senate Agriculture and Wildlife Committee and now moves to the full Senate for a vote.

This bill would give foreign chemical manufacturers—including ChemChina and Bayer—immunity from legal accountability, even in cases where pesticide manufacturers intentionally misrepresent pesticide safety information and violate federal law.
If passed, SB 1078 would:
Make foreign-owned companies like Bayer and ChemChina immune from lawsuits – stripping Oklahoma farmers, families, and cancer survivors of their right to hold corporations accountable for misbranded pesticides.
Rely entirely on the EPA for oversight – even though the EPA does not conduct its own pesticide safety studies and instead relies on industry data, with some pesticides going decades without independent review.
Remove any incentive for companies to make their products safer, putting Oklahomans at risk.
Disregard emerging science linking pesticides and herbicides to serious health risks.
Mirror protections given to Big Pharma under the PREP Act, which shielded vaccine manufacturers from liability over COVID vaccine side effects.
Many states—including Idaho, Iowa, Missouri (2024), and Mississippi and Wyoming (2025)—have rejected similar bills after fully evaluating their impact. Oklahoma lawmakers should do the same.
This Will Be a Huge Fight – and We Need You!
Right now, SB 1078 threatens to strip away legal accountability from chemical giants like Bayer/Monsanto and ChemChina—just as the PREP Act protected Big Pharma from liability. But fighting this bill requires resources, education, and action at the Capitol.
So far, SB 1078 is being backed by powerful special interests, including the Department of Agriculture and Farm Bureau. Meanwhile, MAHA legislators fighting against this bill are at risk of political attacks. Just look at what’s happening in Missouri: Bayer’s Roundup Propaganda Campaign Exposed.
When we have unexpected shortfalls in donations, our most critical political battles—like stopping SB 1078—are put at risk. We need your support to keep fighting for you at the Capitol!
Call and email your state Senator and ask them to vote NO on SB 1078!
Key Talking Points:
The EPA does not conduct its own pesticide safety studies, but instead, relies on industry data. Some pesticides have gone decades without independent review.
This legislation strips farmers, families, and cancer survivors of their only way to hold companies accountable when pesticides are misbranded or falsely marketed as safe.
Similar bills have been rejected in other states—Oklahoma should not let corporate interests override public safety.
This is similar to the PREP Act, which protected Big Pharma from lawsuits over vaccine side effects.
Sample Phone Script:
“Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am a constituent in [Your City]. I’m calling to ask Senator [Last Name] to vote NO on SB 1078. This bill would give foreign corporations like Bayer and ChemChina legally immune from harm caused to farmers by over 16,000+ “regulated” by the EPA, who doesn’t adequately review or do ANY scientific research. Please protect Oklahomans and vote NO on SB 1078. Thank you.”
Sample Email Script:
Subject: Please Vote NO on SB 1078
Dear Senator [Last Name],
I am writing as a concerned constituent to urge you to vote NO on SB 1078. This bill would shield foreign chemical manufacturers like Bayer and ChemChina from lawsuits, even when they misrepresent pesticide safety and violate federal law. The EPA does not conduct its own safety studies, but instead, relies on industry data—some pesticides have gone decades without independent review.
Additionally, this legislation strips Oklahoma farmers, families, and cancer survivors of their only legal pathway to hold corporations accountable for misbranded pesticides. Similar bills have already been rejected in Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Mississippi, and Wyoming when lawmakers fully evaluated the impact. Oklahoma should be next to reject this bill.
This bill mirrors the PREP Act, which protected Big Pharma from liability over COVID vaccine side effects. Oklahomans deserve better. Please vote NO on SB 1078.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
