Important Updates to The Oklahoma Student Exemption Process
Attention Oklahoma families! The exemption process for students has been updated, and we want to ensure you have the latest information. Please read carefully, as some steps have changed. The process is now ONLINE!
There are still three types of exemptions available:
Medical – Requires a physician’s signature
Religious – Based on religious beliefs
Philosophical – Based on personal beliefs
Now with the online system there have been slight changes to the philosophical and medical exemptions.
- Philosophical Exemptions: Now, when completing the exemption form online, you will select from a list of provided reasons that best summarize your personal beliefs.
- Medical Exemptions: You must download the medical exemption form provided by the new online system. You will then have it signed by a physician, and then upload the completed form back to the new online platform.
REMINDER: Due to limited funding, we are not staffed to assist with exemptions from February through May. If you experience problems or notice violations, please report them through Awareity. This platform is in place to track concerns and ensure proper compliance.
